DVI (Digital Visual Interface) cables are common among monitors for displaying high definition picture. Unlike HDMI, they only transmit a video signal.
DVI Guidelines:
- AWG: Measurement of the wires gauge. Smaller AWG numbers mean a thicker wire. This is important for maintaining a good signal for longer cables.
- Single-Link vs. Dual-Link: Single link and dual link refer to the connectors in the DVI hardware. Having a dual link will considerably increase the speed and quality of your signal.
- CL2 Rated: This specification is important for in-wall installations where fire hazards are a concern.
- Male-to-Male: A cable with a male interface supplies the pins needed for a corresponding female interface. This male-to-male specification is the standard for DVI cables.
